At Derby, we have been rebuilding locomotives for over 50 years. From component change outs to complete remanufacturing, we have the quality and ability to perform work to your satisfaction each and every time. Derby's results are in operation on locomotives in the USA, Canada, Europe and Central America.

| Engine Overhauls |
|
|
Locomotive remanufacturing and overhauling are sound fiscal options that increase the life of any locomotive. With the high costs of new locomotives, the sound economic decision to rebuild your locomotive fleet will add 15 to 20 years to the life of your locomotives. Locomotive engine overhauls will extend your engine life by 7 to 9 years.
During remanufacturing, your locomotive is disassembled to an agreed specification. Components are inspected and replaced as needed. Mechanical, electrical and rotating equipment parts are remanufactured using stringent performance standards from only reputable vendors.
After remanufacturing, the locomotive and truck frames are sandblasted, checked for wear, repaired and completely painted to your color scheme in an EPA approved and certified paint facility at Derby. The benefit? Remanufacturing costs significantly less than the cost of a new locomotive.
Sometimes your locomotive needs only internal updates. That is when overhauling is the best option to fit your budget at a significant savings. During the overhauling process, your locomotive is disassembled to an agreed specification, with components inspected and replaced as needed.
Upon completion, our diligent staff of locomotive professionals inspect your locomotive's performance and carefully notes compliance with specifications. Any necessary final adjustments are made and the locomotive is road tested in real train service to verify operational capabilities. Only then do we release your locomotive to you, fully ready for service.

| Wreck Repairs |

Derby's blacksmith and fabrication facilities have the capability of forming, shaping and fabricating all alloys and gauges of metal on locomotives. Wrecked and damaged locomotives look like new with the help of our special applications equipment and the expertise of our certified welders. Let us help you get that damaged or wrecked locomotive back on track for you.

Derby utilizes only reputable vendors to supply us with the best components you need to keep your locomotives in revenue service. From water and lube oil pumps, governors and detectors, to complete overhaul kits, we are proud to make sure that only top quality components go into your locomotive.

| Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Inspections |
In addition to repairs and overhauls, Derby can also complete the FRA requirements for the periodic inspections for your locomotives. We can perform the inspection to your requirements or you can choose the complete MM&A inspection regime, which can include:

| Technological Upgrades |

Derby can apply, rewire and install various types of technological upgrades on your locomotive to improve reliability and performance. Because we are not "locked in" to any one supplier, we can install the upgrades of your choice. This allows us to eliminate unnecessary functions.
We are also able to install radio remote control equipment in your locomotive from the vendor of your choice.

| LOCOMOTIVE REMOTE CONTROL CAR |
|
Custom designed and built locomotive remote control equipment cars enable any multiple unit capable locomotive to be remotely controlled, adding flexibility to your locomotive fleet.
Remote control equipment cars can be built on flat cars, in cabooses or even on locomotive frames with control cabs.

| FREIGHT CAR SERVICES |

Derby is your one stop shop for all of your freight car needs. We are AAR M-1003 CERTIFIED for Rule 88 Car Rebuilding/life extensions and M-214 truck rebuilds. Freight car repairs and upgrades include modifications, heavy fabrications and repair services, as well as defect card and wreck repairs.
We are experienced in car programs that extend the life and versatility of your freight car fleet.
The repair process begins with an agreed specification, with components inspected and replaced as needed. Upon completion, your freight cars will be ready for the demands of your customers and fully AAR and FRA compliant.
Our EPA approved paint facility allows us to paint your freight cars to your specifications, colors and color scheme.
Derby provides railcar services with a fast turnaround, high quality workmanship and accurate estimates and billing. Derby has evolved over nearly 100 years into a full-service contract shop serving railroads and private car owners alike.

| AAR CERTIFIED WHEEL SHOP |
|
Derby is an AAR certified car wheel and journal bearing mounting facility. We exclusively use Timken and Timken repaired roller bearings to provide you with the best product in the industry.
Derby also performs locomotive wheel and journal bearing mounting, and axle refinishing for all types of locomotives.
Wheel reprofiling is offered for both freight car and locomotive wheel sets.

| SPECIALTY REPAIRS AND EQUIPMENT SERVICES |

Derby is not limited to traditional shop services. We can rebuild and reprofile of Hi Rail and similar track equipment wheels at a fraction of the cost of new or factory rebuilt wheels.
Derby also performs repairs, maintenance and overhauls on snow plows and spreaders.
Our custom machine shop and fabrication shop can design, repair and rebuild all types of railroad and non-railroad components.
